Freshers Fortnight 2019!
London Met’s Freshers’ activity starts on Monday 23 September 2019. We have an incredible package ready for all you lucky new starters, and returning students too.
There are two weeks of amazing events and entertainment, followed by a huge closing party on Friday 11 October, the ‘Freshers’ Premiere’. There are events of all kinds, and for all tastes 🙂
Collect your free Freshers’ Fortnight Wristband from staff in ‘The Rocket’ venue at Holloway campus, which gets you free entry to Freshers’ social events at London Met.
We also hold two great Freshers’ Fairs at our Holloway campus (Thursday 3 October) and Aldgate campus (Friday 4 October), for you to learn all about uni and get some great deals and freebies.
The best place to get most up-to-date information is by following our London Met Events Facebook page and our @londonmetevents Twitter feed.
Our two Freshers’ Fairs are held at the two campuses… in Holloway campus on Thursday 4 October (held in The Great Hall), and at Aldgate campus on Friday 5 October (at The Wash Houses, 11am – 3pm).
Make sure you don’t miss out on the Freshers’ Premiere… it’s the biggest event during the start of year festivities, and is always a sellout! You have to buy a ticket for this one, but they are super cheap and students can buy two guest tickets too. For ticket link and more information visit our Facebook, details below.

We have a couple of great Halloween events coming up next week at London Met.
Tuesday 24 October
First up is ‘Sew Spooky’… an event where you can swap your old Halloween costume to get a totally new one, upcycle an old one, and learn to make-do-and-mend! Click the link to register for a free ticket. Places are limited so hurry!

| Sew Spooky repairs – bring your clothes back from the dead, 11 – 12noon [book here] and 2 -3pm [book here]. Learn how to resurrect your wardrobe favourites and dip your toes into the world of sewing and repairs. |
| Sew Spooky Halloween Costume Making Workshop, 12:30 -1.30pm. Stuck with what to wear this Halloween? In this workshop you’ll learn how to make, alter or embellish clothes and costumes and turn them into something spooky. Book free ticket. |
Wednesday 25 October – Haunted Halloween Frat House!
It’s the big party you know and love at London Met… it’s Frat House! But this month something weird is going on… the house is HAUNTED?!?!?!
Will you be brave enough to investigate??
We’ll have:
Bloody beer pong (free) from 9pm–10pm
Best dressed will be crowned King and Queen of the Damned at midnight
Mummy wrapping contest, gunge lucky dip and toxic apple bobbing
Devilish DJs and demonic dancing all night
Tickets are £3 Metcard, £4 any student, £5 guest.

Our two Freshers’ Fairs are held in Holloway campus on Thursday 6 October (held in The Great Hall and The Rocket building), and in Aldgate campus on Friday 13 October (at The Wash Houses).
Most events are free for Freshers, you can get a free entry wristband from our student venue The Rocket, or from our events team at enrolment around the different campuses.

Join our team of London Met students working in the Rocket venue now!
We are looking now for outgoing and fun loving LMU students to join our existing team of ‘venue assistants’. Applications are open so get involved!
This fun and flexible position pays London Living Wage, and can fit around your studies. Work includes setting up and working at events in the venue, working on the bar, cloakroom, box office and promoting our events.
The Rocket runs a cafe bar and puts on the best student events from live shows to club nights, as well as private hire events. We have a vibrant and close knit student team who enjoy working and socialising together… it’s a great opportunity to get involved with events at uni and make new friends, and all staff are paid the London Living wage! Don’t delay, apply today through Met Temps – there are shifts waiting!
Rocket Karaoke – Thursday 6 April
Show us your superstar potential at the awesome Rocket Karaoke and Easter party. Throw on your Easter attire and get in front of the glitter curtain to strut your stuff… all the classics will be available for you to sing your heart out to. Drinks voucher prizes for good and very bad singers!
